Energy consumption and generation is changing

Join Us …

At Joju we believe the future for energy in the UK lies in having a holistic view from conception to completion, creating homes and buildings that are better for both people and the planet.

A fairer energy future, which doesn’t rely on carbon intense fuels, is possible for all homes and buildings and at Joju we offer the products and services to make this a reality.

We want to work with individuals and organisations that share our desire to create a fairer energy future for all.

Why Joju?

We’re approachable, we know our stuff and we’ve got a great track record.

And our hearts are in our work, 100%. Since our founding ten years ago by businessman Joe Michaels and Oxford University renewables lecturer Dr Chris Jardine, we’ve helped pioneer ‘democratic energy’, building some of the earliest and largest community-funded and social housing solar projects.

We have also expanded our services from just solar PV to include, home battery storage (including the Tesla Powerwall), LED energy-efficient lighting, electric vehicle charging and operations & maintenance of existing solar PV systems—including those we didn’t install.

Solar PV

Solar panels have changed the lives of thousands of families in the UK.

The excitement of generating your own power brings another dimension to day-to-day life—especially when panels are fitted along with a smart energy monitor. Homes become connected to the wider world, helping people to understand how much electricity they import and how much they’re generating.

Over the last ten years we’ve been trusted by councils, community groups, businesses and homeowners, to build thousands of PV systems—all shapes and sizes, on all types of roof.

We are one of the largest installers of PV on social housing in the country and we have worked with numerous councils and social housing providers, including Brighton & Hove City Council, Greenfields Community Housing, Guildford Borough Council, the London Borough of Hackney, Oxford City Council, Reading Borough Council and Lewes District Council.

We’re proud of…

  • Our big picture thinking. We believe in a fairer energy future for all.
  • Our expertise. After 10 years there’s not much we don’t know about photovoltaics.
  • Our success. Surviving and thriving in a notoriously rocky sector, we are still going strong.
  • Our satisfied clients/partners. “Friendly”, “expert”, “great service”, we get brilliant compliments all the time, and we work hard for them.

Batteries & storage

We believe that in the future energy systems will be decentralised, making them much more democratic.

We’ve been installing battery systems since 2013 and have been involved in some of the earliest trials of this technology. In 2015, we were the installers for Project ERIC which incorporated batteries into 50 social housing units in Oxford. As such we are one of, if not the most, experienced installers in the country.

We provide domestic battery storage from a range of manufacturers including Tesla, Moixa, SMA, and Sonnen, as well as devices which capture excess electricity from solar systems that would otherwise be exported to provide heat.

Tesla Powerwall

We are certified installers of the Tesla Powerwall. We installed our first complete solar PV and Powerwall home system in May 2016. The installation and the impact it has had for Joju customer, Glen Tweedie, has already been featured on internet series Fully Charged hosted by Green technophile Robert Llewellyn.

Consultancy Services

We provide consultancy services, such as PV feasibility studies. As well operations and maintenance services for existing solar PV arrays including ones that we didn’t install.

Joju have offices in London and Oxford and undertake projects across the UK. We have a friendly team of experts always ready to discuss your projects.

What makes us different

  • We are genuine PV specialists with 9 years experience
  • We are innovative at structuring projects, especially in accessing community funding as a source of capital
  • We build exceptionally high performing PV systems, which consistently beat the Government SAP prediction on generation: for example, for Greenfields Housing our systems over-performed SAP by 7% and 20% respectively for their social housing and sheltered scheme

“Solar photovoltaic systems provide social housing providers with a guaranteed financial return, reduced energy price volatility, assistance with fuel poverty targets and carbon savings.”

Alex Fox, Solar Project Manager, Brighton & Hove City Council

“No troubles, no hold ups – it was very easy. The installers were very friendly. The installation was neatly done, with nothing disturbed in the house. We’ve had no problems at all with the system. Plain sailing. We’re very happy with it.”

Mrs S. Haiselden, Pulborough Close, Reading. (Council tenant)
