Forrest

Forrest is a building services contractor operating predominately in the social housing sector, headquartered in the North of England.

Founded in 1955 as Herbert T Forrest, a small joinery firm in Preston, today Forrest stands out as an innovative, diverse and profitable business in a construction industry marred by continued recession.

Forrest’s core service offering revolves around the four areas of construction work:

  • Renewable Energy and Carbon Reduction Technologies
  • Responsive Maintenance
  • Regenerate/new build
  • Refurbishment

Forrest has capitalised on emerging technologies and construction techniques to develop a service line, named ‘renew’, that complements our other three divisions. This division offers clients a holistic approach to the delivery of comprehensive energy and resource-efficiency measures, renewable energy generation and retrofit technologies for low carbon solutions.

Forrest’s team of Domestic Energy Assessors, ECO and Green Deal Assessors carry out detailed stock assessments and statistical analysis for clients, providing them with the data they need to secure funding for measures that will help lift a significant number of low-income households out of fuel poverty. The support Forrest provides is also essential in efficiently managing this process and ensuring those with the greatest need are prioritised. Forrest was the first organisation in the UK to become PAS 2030 accredited, has since become a Green Deal Provider and leads the field in the retrofit market.

Forrest’s refurbishment division carries out comprehensive renewal, repair and improvements to existing housing stock bringing its condition up to the exacting standards demanded by clients and their service users in order to attract the best quality tenants, thereby yielding the optimum income stream and adding significantly to asset value. Forrest operates in a competitive tender marketplace and continuously benchmarks its rates and prices against its competitors to ensure it always delivers value for money.

The responsive maintenance division offers a specialist repair and maintenance service to clients across the Public and Private Sectors and includes reactive and void property repair and refurbishment.

The regenerate service supports clients throughout the entire development process, from initial site identification and viability appraisals, origination of a specification to match market conditions and local demographics, site engineering, cost planning and planning applications, right through the construction process to final completion, as well as the discharge of all statutory obligations. This one-stop-shop service helps clients make lasting improvements to their communities and, through new-build development and estate/stock renewal, contributes to a legacy of lasting positive change.

The company has achieved 11 consecutive years of sales growth and, for the first time in 2012, its revenues passed the £100m mark – a leap of 49 per cent per cent on its 2011 position.

Forrest now employs 630 people, of which 12 per cent are apprentices. Forrest has continued its impressive record of Framework wins increasing the number of Framework appointments to 72 giving unparalleled access to 170 social housing Landlords and Local Authorities extending its geographical reach throughout Wales, the Midlands and North of England.

By any measure, Forrest is the most successful Framework contractor currently operating in the UK.
