Chequers was formed in 1987 by two brothers Gary and Paul Jeal, founded originally as a Window Cleaning business. Following substantial growth of the business, Gary and Paul’s sister Kate Ward joined the company in 1993 as Head of Sales and Marketing. All three siblings still own and run the company today.
A specialist Electrical and Building Department was formed in 2002 to offer additional services in conjunction with our cleaning. Our years of experience in the cleaning industry has given us the opportunity to gain an in depth insight in to a cost effective and professional approach to our clients needs. Through client demand, our services have expanded to a full range of Facilities Support Services including Grounds Maintenance and Tree Surgery works.
Today, the Chequers Group comprises of over 750 members of staff with a fleet exceeding 100 fully liveried company vehicles, covering all sectors from Housing, Local Authorities, Schools, Commercial Offices, Leisure and Retail. We pride ourselves on the personal service we offer, our innovation and creativity ensures we meet the diverse and specific needs of our clients as all contracts are tailored personally to their requirements.
We are one of the main leading contractors within the Housing Sector for the South. Being specialists in this area, we have full understanding of how social housing providers function and are aware of the high level of service and flexibility that is needed. We service over 2500 entrances each week to General Needs Housing sites and in excess of 250 Sheltered, Supported, Extra Care and Mental Health Care Schemes including Hostels and Units for Young Adults.
Having our own BICSc Training Academies with Centre Status, we are proud of our awards that are testament to the hard work and support of our staff, clients and suppliers. Last year at the Croydon Business Awards, Chequers were awarded Best Business for Training and Development, Best Business for Apprenticeships and Employment for Young People and the prestigious Business of the Year 2014 Award. We were also awarded the Best Business for Apprenticeships and Employment for Young People at the 2014 London Business Awards.
