iOpt specialises in remotely monitoring the internal environment of properties and the assets contained within them. We enable social housing providers to manage their stock remotely, extend the life of assets and reduce maintenance costs as well as protecting the health and wellbeing of tenants.
With increasing pressure on budgets and resources, social housing providers are having to do more with less. iOpt’s IoT solution allows providers to save money on repairing preventable damage and invest it elsewhere, allowing organisations to be more proactive and make better informed and timely decisions.
How it works
iOpt uses specially designed environmental sensors to monitor temperature, humidity and CO2 in a property, from this we can identify:
The data generated from the sensors is analysed in the Cloud. Alerts and reports are generated and sent to an appropriate department, or person, allowing them to act on the insights provided.
- Occupancy
- Mould risk
- Poor ventilation
- Renewable energy system performance
- Pre and post retrofit energy efficiency monitoring
- Poor air quality
- Low temperatures
- Vulnerable person (lack of movement around property)
Several clients are now driving our service to be more energy monitoring oriented due to the massive challenges we see in the race to 2035 etc.
Customers
Our customers are spread across the UK and include: City of Edinburgh Council, Renfrewshire Council, Hackney Council, Lewes and Eastbourne Council, Cornwall Council, Anchor Hanover, Great Places, Places for People, Loreburn Housing Association, Wales and West. We also deliver specialist energy and refrigeration monitoring to clients including the RSPCA, select hospitality organisations and schools.
Partners
We work with several delivery partners to provide our services. These include BRE (Building Research Establishment, https://www.bregroup.com/), BT, CGI and AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Technology
To deliver our service we work very closely with some global leaders in IoT Technology. We have used many different sensor providers and have had some sensors designed and developed specifically to our requirements for the social housing sector. We work closely with cloud computing service providers including The Things Industries TTI/TTN, the company that delivers the Welsh Governments LoRaWAN server system. This is the data acquisition system we will propose to use for this project. Our platform and analytics have been developed specifically with the needs of the social housing sector in mind.
Award winning -making a difference
In our relatively short life we have made some big inroads to the Housing as well as IoT sectors. In 2020 iOpt won the IoT Global Award for best Smart City and Local Government and Utilities Service. In Jan 2022 we won the National Housing Maintenance Forums Most Innovative Service Award with our client Renfrewshire Council. As a leader in the field, Dane Ralston iOpt’s Managing Director, is regularly called upon to speak at Local Authority events to help spread the word on just how transformational the IoT could be to local authorities.
